Terms and conditions

  1. This promotion is only open to residents of Scotland aged 18 years or over.
  2. This promotion is open from 22nd June 2012 and the last date for receipt of entries is 21st September 2012 (the “Promotional Period”).
  3. This promotion is not open to employees of the promoter, Tennent Caledonian Breweries UK Limited, (the “Promoter”), or any member of the C&C Group, their families, agents, clients, suppliers, retailers, merchants and associates.
  4. Applications can be made via the National Farmers Union of Scotland (NFUS) and the Herriot Watt International Centre for Brewing and Distilling (ICBD) or you can also apply through the Caledonia Best website directly – www.caledoniabest.com
  5. The prize will be allocated from a ‘Seed Fund’ (the total value of the Fund is £58,000). There is no prescriptive figure allotted to a particular field or project that will be awarded. Each application will be reviewed by a board of judges on a case-by-case basis and a sum which is awarded by the judges will be decided on the basis of the value and merit of the application.
  6. The application process has been split into two distinct sections to offer potential applicants experience on in addition to financial prizes from the Seed Fund:
  7. The Ultimate Placement Caledonia Best takes a novice or experienced brewer/ group of brewers under their wing, offering them an internship year, working with the best in the business in Scotland – including Tennent Caledonian and smaller Scottish businesses and brewers further afield.
  8. New Product Development Challenge This challenge offers promising entrepreneurs the chance to develop their skill set and, while hooked closely to Wellpark Brewery, this would take the successful applicant to new areas and locations in order to develop their new product further, providing a tangible result - a product that would be backed by the business.
  9. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for entries that are misdirected, lost, delayed, damaged or corrupted during delivery to or from the Promoter due to any computer malfunction, virus, bug, delay or any other reason whatsoever. 
  10. The personal details of entrants will be used for the distribution of prizes and in order to make winners' names and cities available for public inspection and for future direct marketing purposes.  The names and countries of major prize winners will be available by sending a request to: Tennent Caledonian Breweries, 161 Duke Street, Glasgow G31 1JD from 31st August for a period of 3 months.
  11. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entrant if it has reasonable grounds to believe the entrant has breached any of these terms and conditions.
  12. Winners may be required to participate in unpaid publicity as required by the Promoter.
  13. The Promoter reserves the right to suspend, vary or cancel the prize without notice as it may reasonably require if circumstances make this unavoidable.
  14. The Promoter reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify and withhold the prize(s) from any individual found to be tampering with the application process or the operation of the promotion or to be acting in any manner deemed by the Promoter to be in violation of these terms and conditions.
  15. The Promoter is not liable for any delay or failure to perform any obligation to the entrant that is caused by any circumstance beyond its reasonable control or by any act or omission of any third party although it will always use reasonable endeavours to minimise any entrant disappointment.
  16. If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is held invalid by any law, rule, order or regulation of any government, or by the final determination of any court of a competent jurisdiction, such invalidity shall not affect the enforceability of any other provisions not held to be invalid.
  17. All conditions, warranties and representations expressed or implied by law or otherwise in relation to the prize draw are excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Promoter shall be under no liability whatsoever or howsoever in connection with any loss, damage or injury which is suffered as a direct or indirect result of the offer, and the promotion except that the promoter makes no attempt to exclude or limit its liability for death or personal injury arising as a result of the negligence of the Promoter.
  18. Any question concerning the legal interpretation of the rules will be based on English law and the Courts of England will have exclusive jurisdiction.
